Join us for a thought-provoking lecture by Maria Rakhmaninova titled "Anarchist Apology of Art: Sensitivity, Resistance, Solidarity." This presentation will explore the role of art in the anarchist project, which is understood not merely as a political alternative but as a way of being in the world—especially in the context of deep social and existential crises. What potential of art has yet to be fully embraced by anarchism? And what role can anarchism play in revising art? During the meeting, we will closely examine these questions and discuss art not as a decorative accessory or a tool of propaganda, but as a space of sensitization, trust, and co-being—ontologically commensurate with the very idea of freedom. The focus will be on the philosophical and practical revision of the relationships between anarchism and art, going beyond traditional ideological frameworks and artistic mainstreams. We will refer to original anarchist texts and the ideas of authors resonant with a libertarian perspective. Special attention will be given to both the potential of art—its ability to open new forms of perception, thought, and solidarity—and the potential of anarchism—to provide art with a connection to living matter and social action. This possible dialogue will be considered a valuable condition for seeking alternative forms of coexistence—authentic, horizontal, and open to affirming freedom. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to purchase a new book-collection of interviews by the magazine Akrateia, edited by Maria—"Anarchism and the Philosophy of Education: Post-Soviet Experience."
