About Event

An excursion to Uplistsikhe and the Archaeological Museum in Gori is scheduled for August 10, 2025, at 7:30 AM. Uplistsikhe is a legendary cave city, one of the first cities on the territory of Georgia. Participants will explore this mysterious corner of Sakartvelo alongside archaeologist Pavel Kolosnitsyn. The journey will take visitors back to the Bronze Age, revealing what the city looked like during the Hellenistic period, and introduce architectural monuments from the early Christian and medieval eras. A picnic will be enjoyed by the banks of the Kura River, featuring wine and khachapuri. Afterwards, the group will visit the Archaeological Museum in Gori, where many artifacts from Uplistsikhe and other interesting archaeological sites are displayed. Pavel Kolosnitsyn, an archaeologist and author of over 50 scientific articles, will guide the expedition. The participation fee is 130 Lari, which includes transfer, the excursion, and wine with khachapuri. Departure from Tbilisi at 7:30 AM with a return around 7 PM.
