Join us for the presentation of Maria Danilova's new novel "Twenty-Sixth" on July 20th (Sunday) at 6:00 PM at Auditoria. Maria Danilova, a writer and journalist, author of the year according to "Signed Editions", lives in Washington. Her first book "Anya Here and There", a story about emigration through the eyes of a child, was a finalist for the Krapivin literary award and made the long list for the Marshak award. This new novel, aimed at adult readers, tells a story of growing up during a time of change, during the perestroika and the early nineties. The setting is Moscow in the late 1980s: queues, rallies, cooperatives, and openness. The narrative centers around five children living in the Southwest district of Moscow and their parents — scientists, engineers, a philologist, a nomenclature worker, and a district pediatrician. While the boys and girls attend music school, read voraciously, fall in love, get sick, rebel, and make and lose friends, the country changes beyond recognition within just a few years. Their familiar world collapses, and the characters must build a new one... Maria Danilova's new novel is a warm, nostalgic story about growing up during perestroika, awakening, hope, overcoming challenges, and regaining freedom! Entry is free!
