This Friday, we will hold a meeting dedicated to the centenary of the Art Deco style. We will immerse ourselves in the world of elegance, modernism, and the atmosphere of the "Roaring Twenties", which had a tremendous impact on the art and design of the 20th century. During the meeting, we will: - Define what Art Deco is and learn about its history, how it replaced modernism, and paved the way for a new aesthetic. - Take a virtual journey to the landmark Paris Exhibition of 1925, which became the starting point for global recognition of Art Deco. - Explore how Art Deco materialized in the magnificent skyscrapers of the USA, which became symbols of progress and a new era. - Analyze how this style influenced architecture and design throughout the 20th century, leaving an indelible mark on our daily lives. This meeting will be of interest to anyone passionate about art history, architecture, and design. The meeting will be led by Andrey Amirov – a teacher of the history and theory of contemporary art and architecture.
